Amazon's 2024-2025 holiday return policy and Prime shipping deadlines

Extended Holiday Returns 

According to this year's policy, items purchased between November 1, 2024, and December 31, 2024, are eligible for returns until January 31, 2025. However, there is an exception for Apple products which must be returned by January 15, 2025.

This special holiday policy applies to orders fulfilled by sellers, FBA (Fulfilled by Amazon), and Amazon Retail. Though the return policy is extended, the eligibility criteria for returns will stay the same for all orders. 

Getting your refund

If you’re the gift recipient, you'll be able to receive your refund as an Amazon.com Gift Card. The refund will go to the gift card balance of the Amazon account you used for the return. If you’re the gift giver, you can choose between getting your refund back to your original payment method or to your gift card balance.

Here’s how to return a gift on Amazon in a few simple steps:

1. Head to the Online Returns Center and log in to your account, or create one if you don’t have it yet.
2. Find your order by entering the 17-digit order number from your packing slip or gift receipt.
3. Select the item you’d like to return. If it’s sold by a third-party seller, submit your return request for their review.

Prime shipping deadlines

While Amazon Prime offers two-day shipping for members, remember that the clock starts when your item ships, not when you place the order so be sure to check delivery estimates for each item in your cart. 

Typically, you’ll need to place your Prime order on Amazon by Dec. 22, 2023 to ensure your items arrive before December 25th. Depending on where you’re located, you may even find select items available for next-day delivery if ordered by Dec. 23.
